Our History
CP Distributors Ltd. (CP) is a company that knows what it takes to be successful in today’s changing construction environment. A pioneer and industry leader in the door, frame, and door hardware industry, CP maintains its exemplary reputation by keeping sight of the basics – from maintaining a strong commitment to quality to making customer service as important as sales.
CP first opened its doors in the 1960’s as an insulation distribution business. Ken Suppes and Martin Scobie purchased the company in 1972 and built the company to include many areas of expertise in the construction products throughout Western Canada. In 2004, management transferred to Scott and Kevin Suppes. Both old and new leaders have the commitment to quality in everything under the CP umbrella – from the company’s products and services to the work environment.
Product Supply: With a vast line of products that spans the range from hollow metal and wood doors to washroom accessories and detention products. CP wraps up the market as the largest stocking hardware distributor of Yale-Corbin product in Western Canada. If a customer has a need for a certain product, CP can track down and source the product in a timely fashion from an immense supplier base.
Installation: Generally, a total door-opening package includes doors, frames and hardware. CP takes it one step further in providing install, project supervision, and after market service. CP is the only distributor providing a pre-finished product with doors, hardware, and painting that meets the customers specific opening and finishing requirements.
Hollow metal doors and frames are a common denominator for just about all commercial construction projects. Not only does CP deal directly with the best manufacturers in the industry, it also provides a local fabrication shop that can handle a job with special attention to finished appearance. Our full-service shops are ULC liscensed - to meet your fire-rated and non-fire-rated needs - and we can add special hardware preps and reinforcements; create borrowed and side lites; and customize doors and frames in just about any configuration.
Setting the standard for excellence in Western Canada, CP maintains a comprehensive quality control program. It follows a check system that covers every service, product and department – outlining who is responsible for what and how that responsibility is met. The organization and clarity of the program leaves no stone unturned. What that means for architects, owners, contractors and end users is a guarantee of the kind of quality that’s deeply rooted in the intention to do it right the first time and on time.
CP customer service department begins where the efforts of most companies end. Each division of customer service, from project-related to non project- related functions, meets its particular responsibility with the company wide commitment to excellence. Other services offered by CP include specification writing and end-user maintenance. The company’s experienced architectural hardware consultants’ work directly with architects to provide consultation and spec writing that adheres to all building, fire, and life-safety codes.
Maintenance: Traditionally, end users are passed over by contract hardware suppliers while CP works with end users to maintain the building after the construction is finished.
Through hard work by both the sales team and coordination a recent "turf" job on a Soccer Center project came together. Thumbs up to Lance for an excellent coordination job. As well, Lance helped install the product well into the evening.
